The book presentation will be held on Friday at 6:00 p.m., with free admission until the venue reaches full capacity. Estepona City Council has announced that Ruth Alvarez Duque will present her book ‘Romance of Light and Water’ at La Casa de Las Tejerinas on Friday, June 5th at 18:00. In the book’s synopsis, the author conveys the essence of the work: ‘The eternal words are woven into unique verses drawn from life itself. The author weaves stories in her mind and brings them to life. In one tale, she envisions a stunning lake, distant and dark, immersing in the tranquility of its waters and discovering forgotten birds residing there. She witnesses a beautiful romantic interlude between the moon and the lake.’ ‘Romance of Light and Water’ incorporates elements from nature, reminding us that love exists not only among people but within all that surrounds us, offering us unforgettable moments. It presents a diverse range of emotions and unveils dark moments that we must release in order to heal our souls. The blend of fiction and reality will immerse readers in an emotional voyage, allowing them to draw their own conclusions. Love is the universal remedy for healing sorrow. ‘I invite you to explore where my truth lies. Once you’ve read it, let me know, do any of the poems resonate with you?’ Ruth Álvarez Duque, originally from Balboa, Colombia, completed her high school education there. She pursued studies in accounting, taxation, and finance in Dosquebradas and Santa Rosa de Cabal. In 2000, she relocated to Spain, embarking on a new personal and professional chapter. Her introduction to poetry occurred in 2022 when she joined the Estepona Poetry Group. It was there that she discovered the enchantment of words and commenced her writing journey, which has not ceased since. A member of the National Union of Writers of Spain, Ruth published her first poetry collection, ‘Tattooing the Atlas of My Feelings,’ in 2024. Her craft has been honed through creative writing instruction under Juan Emilio Ríos Vera. Currently, she is unveiling her second poetry collection, ‘Romance of Light and Water,’ and is crafting her debut novel. She has earned accolades in national and international poetry contests and competitions.
