The advancement of the boulevard project in Estepona is evident, with the underground installations almost completed and the foundations halfway done. Pedestrian access on Avenida San Lorenzo is already operational, and the openings to Avenida Juan Carlos I and Avenida EspaƱa are scheduled for July. The Estepona City Council is actively promoting the construction of the city’s future boulevard, located in the vicinity of San Lorenzo, Juan Carlos I, and EspaƱa avenues. This significant project has reached various stages of completion, including 90% progress in the underground network installation and 50% in foundation works. The initial floor slab is 30% complete, and work on the roof slab has commenced, marking a crucial step in shaping this essential urban infrastructure. Furthermore, pedestrian access on San Lorenzo Avenue has been established to enhance connectivity during construction. Access to Juan Carlos I and EspaƱa avenues is set to open in July. Landscaping activities have also begun around the AlborĆ”n building. The boulevard will seamlessly connect the pedestrian promenade to the Mediterranean, transforming the former N-340 road into one of the country’s premier walkways, adjacent to the revitalized historic center known as the ‘Garden of the Costa del Sol.’ The underground section of the boulevard will feature a parking facility for over 300 vehicles, complementing the existing municipal parking network with a user-friendly daily rate of 1 euro. Above ground, unique elements such as squares, water features, and parks will enhance the urban space, creating a vibrant gathering place for residents. Designated areas for taxi stands, loading/unloading, motorcycle parking, electric vehicles, and bicycles will promote sustainable mobility. This initiative underscores the council’s commitment to developing a city that is welcoming, environmentally conscious, and oriented towards the sea, solidifying Estepona’s reputation as a national leader in public space quality and citizen well-being.
