Approximately 2,000 Colombian citizens are part of the community in Estepona. Mayor José María García Urbano and advisor Andrea Ruoppolo welcomed Consul General of Colombia in Seville, Juan José Quintana Aranguren, for an official visit at City Hall. The aim is to strengthen collaboration and promote initiatives for cultural integration of the Colombian community in the municipality. Discussions focused on joint initiatives to enhance ties between the community and the city, encouraging their involvement in social, cultural, and community activities. Estepona values the contributions of Colombian citizens to its social development and sees diversity as enriching community life. The Consul General expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and pledged to continue cooperation to provide services for Colombian citizens and promote activities preserving their cultural heritage while integrating them into Estepona society. Plans include the Colombian Mobile Consulate visiting Estepona to facilitate administrative procedures. A meeting with the local Colombian community allowed for dialogue on concerns, proposals, and future focus areas. The visit also included a tour of Estepona’s historic district and the Orchid Garden, showcasing the municipality’s heritage, tourism, and culture.
