Recognition of Pilar Mayor Olea and Gender Violence Section at International Women’s Day Celebration

The annual ‘March 8th Awards’ were presented by the City Council to honor those who promote equality. Mayor José María García Urbano presided over the International Women’s Day event, where lawyer Pilar Mayor Olea and the Gender Violence team of the Bar Association’s Estepona delegation received recognition. The mayor highlighted the importance of acknowledging the efforts of individuals, groups, and institutions dedicated to women’s issues. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to working towards a more just and responsible society. Pilar Mayor Olea was praised for her sixteen years of service at the Estepona Bar Association, demonstrating a strong dedication to defending fundamental rights. The Gender Violence Team was commended for providing crucial legal support to women, especially those affected by gender-based violence. The City Council also commended the Municipal Women’s Information Center in Estepona for their ongoing efforts to support and empower women.
