The Announcement of the Eighth Edition of the Young Musicians Contest in Estepona

Estepona’s City Council has revealed details of the upcoming eighth edition of the Young Performers Competition ‘Ciudad de Estepona’ aimed at talented children under the age of 14. The national contest is scheduled for May 23, with semifinals taking place at Colegio San José and the final on May 24 at the Mirador del Carmen Cultural Center. Instrumentalists playing piano, stringed instruments, wind, harp, and guitar are invited to participate. Estepona’s mayor, José María García Urbano, along with Olga Tarasova, the president of the Musical Association ‘Gradus ad Parnassum’, introduced the competition. The event seeks to foster cultural and artistic development among young individuals while propelling aspiring musicians to new heights. The competition is open to young talents up to 13 years old, provided they have Spanish nationality or residency. The deadline for entries is April 18, 2026. A panel of judges will select 10 semi-finalists from submitted recordings, with the final five being chosen on May 23. The competition’s jury comprises esteemed figures from the music realm, including Juan Mendoza, Fernando Arias, Eduardo Frías, Yulia Iglinova, Cristina Lucio-Villegas, Augusto Techera, and Nadia Zhdanova. Prizes totaling up to 1,000 € await the winners, along with special awards from prominent organizations and institutions in the music industry. The competition is organized by the Musical Association ‘Gradus ad Parnassum’, under the leadership of Olga Tarasova, and supported by the Estepona City Council, in collaboration with various renowned partners.
