Estepona’s Municipality has announced that the annual campaign to disinfect and eliminate rats, aimed at eradicating rodent and insect infestations, has been reinforced by the inclusion of a new team of operators. Moreover, the service now operates throughout the year with three separate campaigns. The City Council has emphasized the importance of this reinforcement, as this campaign is crucial for maintaining cleanliness, hygiene, and public health in the municipality. While these activities are ongoing throughout the year, disinsection is intensified during the summer months, with rat extermination being the focus for the rest of the year. Hidralia, the water supply service provider in the city, is responsible for these operations, covering 426 kilometers of the municipal sewer network, over 20,000 manholes, and 10,573 drains in the city. The work is carried out in zones and sectors, encompassing urban and suburban areas, to streamline the management of treatments with disinfectants. Treatments are typically conducted early in the morning in central streets and commercial areas to minimize disruptions to daily activities. In addition to the Annual Pest Control and Rodent Control Plan, Hidralia conducts ongoing monitoring of incidents reported in the municipality, as well as responding to suggestions and complaints from residents.
