Enhancing the surroundings, the Estepona City Council has approved a plan to upgrade the lighting systems in six municipal parks. The aim is to improve energy efficiency, enhance safety, and promote a more sustainable and environmentally friendly lighting solution. A total of 355 high-performance LED luminaires will be installed in various parks, including Constitution Park, Human Rights Park, Los Niños Park, Seghers Park, Carmen Thyssen Park, and Huerta Nueva Park. The project involves replacing existing equipment with LED technology, along with installing functional and scenic lighting to create a safer and more visually appealing environment. Divided into two phases, the project has a budget of 250,498 euros. The new lighting design will prioritize safety and health, while minimizing environmental impact. Measures will be taken to reduce blue light emissions at night, protect urban biodiversity, and control glare. In sensitive areas, such as green spaces, precise beams and screens will be used to limit light dispersion. A lighting study will determine optimal light levels and intensity based on actual usage. By incorporating public health and environmental sustainability criteria, the Estepona City Council is taking steps towards a more efficient, safe, and sustainable city model.
