Since the school year began, 75 cases of absenteeism have been recorded in Estepona’s schools, with individual monitoring and coordination between the Social Welfare delegation, schools, and Local Police. A coordination meeting was held with the Truancy Technical Team (ETAE), attended by directors, heads of studies, counselors, social workers, Local Police representatives, and members of the municipal psycho-educational team. The meeting focused on monitoring the measures of the Truancy Prevention Program for the 2025/2026 school year, with the collaboration and subsidy of the Territorial Delegation of Educational Development and Vocational Training of Malaga. Preventive workshops addressing factors contributing to truancy, such as addiction to social networks, social skills, job orientation, school reinforcement, and drug prevention, are already in progress. These workshops aim to promote regular attendance, enhance coexistence, and provide students with tools for academic success. The City Council emphasizes the importance of early intervention and coordination among schools, Community Social Services, and Local Police to identify and support at-risk students and families. Estepona City Council remains committed to preventing truancy and ensuring educational success for all children in the municipality.
