A total of fifty air conditioning units, involving an investment of 60,000 euros, will be installed in schools and nursery schools in the upcoming days. A second phase of the air conditioning plan will be carried out by the Consistory to equip other classrooms in public centers that currently lack such facilities. Estepona City Council has purchased fifty air conditioning units for installation in all educational institutions in the city. The councilor responsible for Education, Maria Aguilar, stated that the Consistory has allocated 60,000 euros for the procurement and installation of these cooling and heating units, aiming to provide a comfortable environment for students and teachers. These fifty units are part of the initial phase of the air conditioning plan to be implemented by the City Council in classrooms of both primary and nursery schools. The installation will take place in the near future. Aguilar mentioned that this set of fifty units marks the commencement of the air conditioning plan in schools. The City Council plans to extend these cooling, ventilation, and heating systems to classrooms lacking them in a subsequent phase. The Education mayor highlighted that in this first phase, units will be installed in all educational institutions across the city, emphasizing that certain classrooms already have air conditioning from previous years. ‘Our objective is to cater to those classrooms without air conditioning yet, ensuring the temperature indoors aligns with the students’ requirements,’ Maria Aguilar added. Investment in school maintenance Furthermore, the Education Councilor emphasized that during summer, Estepona City Council invested over 250,000 euros in the maintenance of public educational institutions. More than a hundred improvement and maintenance tasks were conducted during the summer to prevent disruptions to students and the educational community. These actions, based on the schools’ own needs assessments, encompass repairs, painting, construction, plumbing, and carpentry tasks.
