The completion of the coastal corridor project is approaching, linking over 21 kilometers of coastline. Estepona City Council has initiated the tender process for the construction of the section of the coastal corridor that covers the Bahía Dorada area. This marks another milestone in the extensive project to connect pedestrians along the entire waterfront of the municipality. The new segment will join the current promenades from La Galera Beach urbanization to the land path of Bahia Dorada through a 168-meter-long wooden walkway. The primary goal is to reclaim this area for public use, enhancing accessibility and blending the coastline into the landscape, all while safeguarding the maritime-terrestrial public domain. The project involves erecting a wooden pathway supported by porticoes, resting on prefabricated concrete footings and wooden piles depending on the terrain conditions. The platform will be three meters wide, furnished with safety railings on both sides, and fitted with LED lighting beacons on the pavement for nighttime safety and visibility without causing glare. The initial bidding budget stands at 299,634 euros (including VAT). Through this initiative, the City Council continues to advance the development of the coastal corridor as a key element in the urban and touristic transformation of the municipality, promoting walking and cycling along the entire Estepona coast and advocating for sustainable, secure, and inclusive mobility for all.
