A contract has been awarded by the Estepona City Council for the repair and stabilization of a section of the existing retaining wall in the Playa Bella area, which has been damaged by storms. The project will focus on the coastal corridor linking La Chimenea with Playa Bella, involving the repair and reinforcement of the wall using backfill and micropiles over a 35-meter stretch. Additionally, repairs will be made to the access stairway to the urbanization, which has also suffered damage from the storms. The project, costing 129,175 euros, is set to be completed within 45 days. The coastal path, inaugurated in 2015, features a 325-meter wooden walkway and a 320-meter concrete retaining wall, which requires reinforcement due to ongoing storm damage. The Estepona beaches have long been affected by erosion, necessitating urgent measures like the construction of breakwaters to prevent further damage. Despite appeals from the City Council and Mayor José María García Urbano, requests for assistance from the central government have yet to be fulfilled.
