The final approval of the municipal accounts has been granted, totaling 132 million euros, with a 6.6 million euro reduction in the Real Estate Tax (IBI) and over 27 million euros allocated for productive investments. This budget marks a significant milestone as it eliminates the need to address the over 300 million euros of inherited debt, achieving a ‘zero debt’ status. The Plenary of Estepona City Council has officially endorsed the 2026 municipal budget, which includes the largest tax cut in the city’s history, previously implemented in the current year. Noteworthy is the historical high level of investments, amounting to 27 million euros, with a strong emphasis on social initiatives. Mayor José María García Urbano emphasized the historic nature of this budget, highlighting the elimination of the substantial inherited debt and the positive impact on the city’s future. A significant portion of over 6.6 million euros is allocated towards another substantial reduction in the Real Estate Tax, providing a considerable economic boost to citizens. Social investment remains a priority, with 10 million euros dedicated to programs and assistance for vulnerable citizens. The budget also includes funds for various projects, such as infrastructure enhancements, sports facilities, and public services maintenance. Additionally, public safety measures and cultural investments are reinforced to enhance the overall well-being of Estepona residents.
