Scheduled for September 11, the 19th stage of Vuelta Ciclista a España will see a thrilling finish at the Peñas Blancas pass. This challenging first category mountain pass was the site of the inaugural uphill finish in the province’s La Vuelta history. The upcoming 81st edition of the race, set to run from August 22 to September 13, will cover a grueling route spanning Monaco, France, Andorra, and Spain. With nearly 3,300 kilometers and over 58,000 meters of elevation gain, the competition is touted as one of the toughest in history. Estepona Mayor José María García Urbano, joined by race director Javier Guillén, emphasized the significance of the Peñas Blancas climb, a pivotal stage for riders. The 205-kilometer Stage 19 will start in Velez Malaga and culminate at Peñas Blancas, promising an exciting spectacle for both locals and global viewers. The City Council is gearing up to host a range of engaging activities to involve residents in the buzz surrounding the event, echoing past successful engagements with La Vuelta.
