Cleaning efforts have been concentrated on more than half of the shoreline, specifically targeting La Rada, El Cristo, Guadalobón, Arena Beach, Costa Natura, Arroyo Vaquero, Bahía Dorada, and La Galera. The Estepona City Council is ramping up its beach cleaning operations in response to the recent storm, removing over 2,500 cubic meters of reeds washed ashore by heavy rainstorms. The municipal Beach Brigade is working tirelessly along both the town’s beaches and outskirts, with work already completed on more than half of the coastline. This includes cleaning La Rada, El Cristo, Guadalobón, Arena Beach, Costa Natura, Arroyo Vaquero, Bahía Dorada, and La Galera, with the eastern beaches also scheduled for cleaning this week. The main challenge faced during these operations is the continuous influx of debris from flooded rivers and streams, exacerbated by heavy rainfall. Access to certain areas has been hindered by high water levels, making the work more challenging. A team of 13 beach workers, supported by three tractors, a truck, a trailer, an excavator, and two buggies, are involved in the clean-up. All removed material is being transported to the waste treatment center for disposal. The cleaning efforts will continue in the coming days as long as the adverse weather conditions persist.
