Investments exceeding 20 million euros have been made by Estepona City Council over the last decade to upgrade water infrastructures, including sewerage, supply, and rainwater networks. Collaborating with Hidralia, these strategic measures have modernized the networks, enabling the municipality to effectively address intense storms and rains without major incidents. Deputy Mayor Blas Ruzafa emphasized the importance of fine-tuning these networks to prevent flooding and other issues during challenging situations. Various actions such as stormwater channeling and network separations have been undertaken to enhance the city’s resilience. Ongoing renewal projects include the extension of Avenida San Lorenzo to meet increased flow demands. Future plans involve installing a storm tank on San Lorenzo Avenue and improving sewage pipes in the Fuerzas Armadas neighborhood to mitigate the impact of extreme weather events.
