A recent initiative, involving an investment of nearly 750,000 euros, has been completed by the Estepona City Council to revamp and improve various playgrounds across the municipality. The main goal of this project was to ensure these spaces are safe and enjoyable for children, whether they are in the city center or on the outskirts. Renovation work has been carried out in a total of 17 parks, including those in neighborhoods such as Blas Infante and Pablo Picasso, Avenida Andalucía, Parque del Abuelo on Ortega y Gasset street, Congreso street, the Fair and Sports Park, and in front of the National Police Station. Additionally, upgrades have been made to playgrounds in suburban areas like Plaza de las Nieves, the municipal nursery in Cancelada, Plaza de la Concordia, in front of the mayor’s office of Isdabe, Altos de Guadalobón, and Santiago Apostol street. The total investment for this plan amounted to 745,254 euros, including VAT. Key improvements include replacing rubber tiles with 4-centimeter thick continuous rubber safety pavements, removing and repairing damaged play elements, and installing new playground equipment with proper safety measures. Street furniture hindering the renovation process has been relocated within the play areas. This initial phase is part of a larger plan to upgrade all playgrounds across the municipality in the near future.
