A project to replace 350 streetlights in six parks in _City_ will result in a 65% reduction in installed power and annual savings of 95,000 kilowatt-hours. This initiative by the Estepona City Council aims to enhance the efficiency of park facilities, with an estimated yearly budget savings of 27,000 euros. The upgrade includes the installation of new LED fixtures in La Constitución Park, Huerta Nueva Park, Human Rights Park, Children’s Park, Seghers Park, and Carmen Thyssen Park. Additionally, decorative lighting fixtures have been added to Carmen Thyssen Park to enhance its aesthetic appeal. The project, costing 186,823 euros, will modernize lighting systems that were over 30 years old in some cases. The reduction in installed power from 35 to 12.25 kilowatts will lead to a significant decrease in energy consumption for lighting these public spaces. Deputy Mayor Blas Ruzafa highlighted the city’s dedication to improving public spaces and resource management through this initiative. The new LED technology is expected to save approximately 27,000 euros annually, offering both economic and environmental benefits. The project’s energy savings are estimated at 95,550 kilowatt-hours per year, equivalent to the electricity consumption of 27 homes. The longer lifespan of LED technology will reduce operating and maintenance costs, while control systems will adjust lighting levels to match park usage. Environmental sustainability, public health, and urban biodiversity protection have been key considerations in the project. The warm color temperature of 3,000 Kelvin will reduce blue light emissions and promote rest for residents. The new luminaires will also minimize light spill and glare, improving safety and comfort for park visitors. With an expected service life of ten years, the project is projected to generate cumulative savings of 270,000 euros, resulting in a net profit of over 83,000 euros. Estepona City Council’s commitment to sustainable and energy-efficient infrastructure is evident in this initiative, which aims to enhance public spaces and promote environmental responsibility.
