During a press briefing, the group detailed 15,726 social projects and the efforts made in areas like integration, elderly care, youth, children, migration, and gender-based violence. María Aguilar, the council member overseeing the Citizen Participation Department, along with Enrique García, the president of the Estepona Red Cross Local Assembly, unveiled the Estepona Red Cross Annual Report today, highlighting their work in social integration, elderly care, youth, children, migration, and gender-based violence. The civic official revealed that in the previous year, the organization supported 921 individuals and carried out 15,726 social interventions. These numbers demonstrate the dedication, solidarity, and altruistic work put in by these individuals in serving the most vulnerable. Additionally, the council member expressed appreciation for their exceptional contribution and stressed the City Council’s commitment to backing the Red Cross and other organizations aiding those in need. Aguilar also outlined the various measures the City Council is taking to assist these organizations in continuing their programs for the benefit of the citizens in need, such as annual financial aid, providing premises for their use, offering municipal facilities for charity events, tax assistance, and collaborating in their charitable activities. On his part, Enrique García, the head of the Red Cross Local Assembly in Estepona, mentioned that 2025 was defined by the volunteers’ hard work and the relocation to the new headquarters, which has been functioning for a month now. He mentioned that the new location is at 10 Mar y Sierra Avenue, where they will cater to all individuals requiring Red Cross services. García informed that the Estepona site has 112 volunteers who have contributed 21,678 hours of service, supported by 1,184 members. He commended them for their dedication and work in various areas like health, social integration, employment, education, elderly care, migration and refugee assistance, and emergencies. Moreover, he highlighted that 70% of member contributions directly benefit service users, while the rest is used for acquiring necessary supplies. The Estepona Red Cross assisted 458 elderly individuals, 239 in extreme vulnerability situations, 135 migrants and refugees, 303 in healthcare, 78 participants in employment schemes, and 67 in training programs in 2025. The organization also underscored its presence in Estepona, Casares, and Manilva, working alongside public bodies, businesses, and social groups to enhance the quality of life for the most disadvantaged.
