Work has started on the project to repair the pedestrian footbridge in Punta de la Plata, damaged by recent storms, with the aim of reopening the section before the summer season. The affected section, number 5 of the coastal corridor, is currently closed for safety reasons. The repair work includes reinforcing the footbridge foundations and replacing the damaged section with new micropiles and reinforced concrete elements. Approximately 30 meters of footbridge and 60 meters of railing will be dismantled and replaced during the month and a half of construction. The City Council expects the section to be reopened in time for summer. Recent interventions in the area have also involved relocating the promenade to align with the maritime-terrestrial public domain, following an agreement with local residents.
