The start of the repair works for the damaged stretch of the coastal corridor in Punta de la Plata by the effects of storms has been initiated by the City Council. The plan includes moving back the promenade following an agreement with the local residents to create a new path layout. The restoration project focuses on a section of the coastal corridor in Punta de la Plata, affected by maritime storms and currently closed for safety reasons. Technical assessments have revealed damage to the masonry wall supporting the walkway built by a developer, leading to the decision to relocate both the wall and the promenade. The City Council, in collaboration with the residents, has agreed to this urgent intervention to adjust the path within the maritime-terrestrial public domain. The reconstruction will involve a temporary occupation of a three-meter wide strip in the urbanization’s common area solely for pedestrian and cyclist use, including walkways, pavements, railings, drainage, and signs. The project, funded and executed by the City Council, aims to minimize disruption to the local community during the construction phase. The renovated section of the promenade, initially part of the coastal corridor’s fifth phase, extends from the Jacaranda area to Playas Andaluzas.
