The Estepona City Council has organized a literary event at the Mirador del Carmen Cultural Center over the weekend, showcasing well-known figures from the arts and literature like Enrique Vila-Matas, Estrella Morente, Pedro Piqueras, and BelĂ©n Cuesta. Yesterday, writer and journalist Rosa Montero, artist and designer Brianda Fitz-James Stuart, musician and broadcaster Mario Vaquerizo, and gallery owner Topacio Fresh participated in the opening of the third edition of the Estepona Literary Festival (FLEST). The festival has brought art to the streets with an exhibition by Brianda Fitz James Stuart titled ‘The Path: From the Invisible to the Visible’, featuring paintings representing key words that have inspired the artist. Mayor JosĂ© MarĂa GarcĂa Urbano sees FLEST as a testament to the city’s commitment to culture, offering diverse cultural activities and events. The festival’s director, Alejandro SimĂłn Partal, highlights the cross-cultural nature of the program, covering film, literature, music, painting, and research. The FLEST Award will be presented to writer Enrique Vilas-Matas, recognizing creators who have pushed the boundaries of literary genres and advanced contemporary literature. The festival also includes sessions on young adult literature, poetry, and discussions on artificial intelligence. The final day features talks by writer Paloma Sánchez-Garnica and journalist Pedro Piqueras, concluding with a book fair where authors will sign copies of their works.
